Frequently Asked Questions

I know reaching out to a therapist can feel like a big step — and it's normal to have questions before you do. I've answered the most common ones below. If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out directly. I'm happy to help.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I accept most major insurance plans for individual therapy. Coverage, copays, and eligibility vary depending on your specific plan, so I always recommend verifying your benefits before our first session. Couples therapy is offered as a private-pay service. Reach out and I can help point you in the right direction.

Do you offer a free consultation?

I do! Before we dive into the work, I offer a free consultation so we can connect, you can share a little about what's going on, and we can both get a feel for whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure and no commitment — just a conversation. You can request one through the contact form on this page.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes — my practice is fully virtual. All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, so you can do this work from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

What states do you work in?

I'm licensed to provide therapy in California, Oregon, and Connecticut. If you're located outside of those states, feel free to reach out and I can try to point you toward resources in your area.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?

EFT is one of the most well-researched, evidence-based approaches to therapy available today — especially for couples. It's a structured process that helps us get underneath the surface-level conflict and understand the deeper emotional needs and fears driving it. My goal with EFT is to help you and your partner — or you as an individual — build more secure, connected ways of relating.

What is your therapy style like?

I'm an active, engaged therapist — I'm not someone who just sits back and nods. I'll ask direct questions, offer observations, and work with you in real time to understand what's happening beneath the surface. I also deeply believe that therapy should feel safe and supportive, so while I'll challenge you, I'll always do it with care and compassion.

How long does therapy take?

Honestly, it depends. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within a few months. Others choose to continue longer for deeper work. I don't believe in keeping people in therapy longer than they need to be — we'll check in regularly to make sure our work together is moving in the right direction for you.

What is a couples intensive and is it right for us?

A couples intensive is an extended therapy experience — anywhere from a 3-hour session to a multi-day format — designed for couples who need more concentrated support than a weekly hour can offer. It can be especially helpful if you're in crisis, recovering from a betrayal, considering separation, or simply want to fast-track your progress. If you're wondering whether an intensive might be right for you, bring it up in your consultation and we can talk it through.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?

Absolutely. My practice is fully LGBTQ+ affirming and I am committed to providing a space that is free of judgment and genuinely inclusive. I understand that LGBTQ+ individuals and couples bring unique experiences and I take that seriously in the way I show up for my clients.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens — I get it. Please reach out to me directly to discuss my cancellation and rescheduling policy so we can find what works best for both of us.

How do I get started?

The easiest first step is to fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. I'll be in touch within one business day to schedule your free consultation. I can't wait to connect with you.
